The earliest known Berger was actually a Barger the name was changed. William Penn Barger was born about 1809 in Ohio. very possibly the son of Chritian Barger and Eve Clements. This has not been proven yet. He was hung in the mid 1850's in Iowa for the murder of his wife by local citizens. He maried Delila McGrew in 1848. She was born about 1811 in Kentucky. They had 4 children.
